Momma said you come The Bogle showed you the way Moon was hanging low Fire burning bright Three women by the water Called me in that night Come a little closer don't you be afraid We've been waiting for you Come on down this way... One held out her hand One whispered in my ear The third just smiled and told me... You got nothing here to fear... Behind them by the fire The Bogle danced around Kicking both his crooked feet Into the muddy ground Look at him dancing... That little bastard grinned... Come on over, stranger, Let the night begin... Three sisters dancing Moving nice and slow Round and round the fire Where the black water flows Three sisters dancing Come and join us now. Three sisters dancing Don't you leave us now... One sister poured the whiskey One pulled me to my feet Don't just stand there watching Come and feel the beat... Round and round we traveled Till I couldn't tell Where the night was ending Or where I fell... Three sisters dancing Moving nice and slow Round and round the fire Where the black water flows Come a little closer, Stay a little while... Morning found me waking Lying by the road Had my boots and money Everything I owned I laughed about those women Till I stepped into the light... I looked down Nothing I turned around Nothing Sun was shining on me But my shadow wasn't there... Back beyond the cypress Where the muddy waters run Three sisters started dancing Underneath the morning sun Four shadows on the ground now Moving nice and slow Three belong to us... And one don't want to go... And there beside the fire That little bastard knew... The Bogle pointed at my shadow And laughed like Bogles do... Three sisters dancing Moving nice and slow Four shadows underneath us Where the black water flows Three sisters dancing Round and round and round... I can hear them singing But I can't make a sound... Come a little closer Don't you leave us now...
