[Verse] Years in the classroom lived and learned Understand now what my heart yearned It’s the spirit kids bring to the fray Not the lessons drilled in day by day [Verse] Give them laughter give them light Bring their faces shining bright Scattered joy and peaceful reign 'Cause you might ease a hidden pain [Chorus] Make them laugh make them sing Bring a smile up their cheek Joyful hearts are everything In the love they find and seek [Verse] She walked in tired eyes cast down Her grades were slipping she’d nearly drown Asked her softly why the tears Fogged her glasses hid her fears [Verse] She struggled Silent Kept her guard Life's tough lessons hitting hard Didn't wanna voice her plight Wasn't ready to face the night [Chorus] Make them laugh make them sing Bring a spark to every heart From a bad day start to swing A little joy's the greatest part
