BETH ב spelled in Hebrew BITh means HOUSE. It is the second Hebrew letter and the first DOUBLE LETTER. It is the sign and symbol for the pair of opposites, LIFE AND DEATH. It stands for the direction ABOVE and for the TRANSPARENT INTELLIGENCE, the planet MERCURY, the color YELLOW, and the note E-natural. Its numerical value is 2. In Roman characters it is written “B.” The type of Intelligence assigned to this card is the TRANSPARENT INTELLIGENCE. The idea is that the solar force, which we bring down from heaven and which we later learn to bring down abundantly, should flow through us unobstructed; just as light comes through a window pane. There are, of course, certain constituents in light, certain rays that cannot go through the glass. NOT ONLY SHOULD THIS LIGHT FLOW INTO THE BODY BUT THROUGH THE BODY AND OUT AGAIN. It is intended that it be transformed in its passage by your thought, by that particular combination which is YOU, your personality, a combination which never occurred before and which can never occur again. You cannot get the influence of that combination until you become transparent to the light. What we have to do is to improve our self-conscious and refine our subconscious so that the Light can go through it and then through our body without obstruction. Let us look at the alphabet and at the formation of the letter BETH. At the bottom of BETH is a parallelogram which represents the physical body. Into that parallelogram comes down a letter which you will have at the bottom of this row. This letter is RESH and means the solar energy. So the letter BETH is a picture of the solar energy entering the physical body through the head. This letter is a DOUBLE LETTER. ALEPH is a MOTHER LETTER. There are 3 MOTHER LETTERS in the Hebrew alphabet, and they are assigned to the elements: Air, Water, and Fire. ALEPH is the sign for Air. Air, Water, and Fire are names given to 3 things in your organism. On the other hand, the actual elements of the ancients held that out of the 4 elements (Air, Water, Fire, and Earth) all things were made.
