(Verse 1) The world is made of lead and glass A fevered, weighty, fragile mass She counts the cracks across the ceiling's plain A silent war with deep inner pain. The doctor's words are a distant sound, In her small room, where her throat's earth-bound (Chorus) But the air is not empty, the quiet's not still There's a legion of love bending low to her will Unseen at her bedside, on knees by the wall They are catching each tear, they are answering each call For the spirit grows weary, but the spirit can see There's a heaven at work where the mortal world flees (Verse 2) A warmth descends gentle ,a soft sweeping grace, A kiss on her forehead, pours out love and grace. Two sides though apart, gives a breath soft and deep, He bids the chaos within her to finally sleep He whispers of strength that she lacks for the day, And collects her tears like jewels, in pots made of clay. (Chorus) For the air is not empty, the quiet's not still There's a legion of love bending low to her will Unseen at her bedside, on knees by the wall They are catching each tear, they are answering each call For the spirit grows weary, but the spirit can see There's a heaven at work where the mortal world flees (Bridge) At her feet, a light begins to bloom Chasing shadows from the corner's gloom An angel's hands, a cool and liquid stream Washing through the wreckage of a broken dream A healing tide from soles to aching soul Beginning to reclaim and to make her whole And at her sides, a pressure, firm and kind Like sentinels of peace she's left behind They bear the weight her shoulders cannot hold And turn her shuddering breath to quiet, solid gold (Chorus) Oh, the air is alive, and the quiet's a hymn As the light from their wings grows brilliant not dim Unseen at her bedside, their vigil is true Weaving heaven's own breath within her enbued. For the body may falter, but the spirit can see There's a kingdom at work where the mortal world flees (Outro) She sleeps. A smile, a secret on her lips, so small and deep. The angels keep. The dawn will find her, not in fragments, but complete.
