“When Will the Giants Wake?” (©CHRIS@ASTI@2013) --- Verse 1 The streets are full of empty footsteps, shadows walking with no name. Children stare through broken windows like they’re waiting for the rain. And the news keeps screaming thunder, but we’re numb from all the storms— every day the world keeps burning, every night the cold returns. I hear the hunger in the alleys, I hear the fear behind the doors. There’s a choir of silent voices that the mighty still ignore. And I wonder when the daylight will break through the smoke again— when the truth will cut the power from the hands of violent men. --- Pre-Chorus And the drums beat like a warning, and the sky cracks open wide— we’re all standing on the fault lines with no place left to hide. --- Chorus When will the giants wake? When will the mighty see that the world they’re tearing open is the world on which we bleed? How long until the hungry finally taste the dawn? How long until this chaos ends, until the damage is undone? Yeah, the future feels uncertain, like a road without a name— but I’ll keep singing for the broken till the giants learn to change. --- Verse 2 There’s a mother on the corner holding dreams she can’t afford, and a father breaking daylight for a wage that keeps him poor. There are oceans full of plastic, fields of metal where life stood— and the powerful keep marching like they’re made of different blood. But the earth remembers every footprint, every war we justified. It’s a drum beneath our heartbeat, it’s a wound we can’t deny. And I fear the world is tipping toward a night we can’t outrun— but the people stand like embers, and together we’re the sun. --- Pre-Chorus And we rise like rolling thunder, and we shake the sleeping ground— ’cause the hope they tried to bury is the hope that won’t stay down. --- Chorus When will the giants wake? When will the mighty see that the world they’re tearing open is the world on which we bleed? How long until the hungry finally taste the dawn? How long until this chaos ends, until the damage is undone? Yeah, the future feels uncertain, but the fire hasn’t died— we’re the voices in the darkness that refuse to be denied. --- Bridge (long, Mumford-style rising energy + Volbeat punch) Oh, we raise our hands— we pound the earth— we scream for justice, we fight for worth. Oh, the sky is falling, but our hearts won’t fall. We stand together, we rise or crawl. Oh, the world is wounded, but the pulse still beats— in every broken village, in every crowded street. And I see the young ones marching with their fists against the tide— they’re the fire of tomorrow and the flame we’ve tried to hide. Let the banjos ring like warnings, let the horns call out the truth— ’cause the world won’t change by waiting— it’ll change because of you. --- Chorus (bigger, more powerful) So when will the giants wake? When will the mighty hear that the cries of all the suffering are the cries that shake the sphere? How long until the hungry finally find their voice? How long until the leaders learn to make the braver choice? Yeah, the future still is fragile, like a lantern in a storm— but hope is made of stubborn hearts that rise when they’re torn. --- Verse 3 (soft folk intro → volcanic lift) I see the ruins of our choices scattered like a brittle crown— the forests gone to ashes, the oceans pulling down. But I hear a whisper rising from the broken, from the small— it says, “No matter how they rule the world, they’ll never own us all.” And suddenly the night breaks open, and a thousand voices roar— the people turning shadows into something worth fighting for. --- Final Chorus (anthemic, euphoric, cathartic) When will the giants wake? When will the mighty know that the strength of all their empires means nothing when we grow? How long until the hungry finally stand as kings? How long until this shattered world begins to heal its wings? Yeah, the future is uncertain, but our courage is alive— and as long as we are breathing, we will rise and rise and rise. --- Outro (folk, echoing, hopeful but heavy) So here’s to all the weary, to the lost and to the brave— to the hands that hold the broken and the hearts they try to save. The world may drown in chaos, but the dawn still waits unseen— and the giants will awaken when we dare to dream.
