[Intro: Sparse, warm fingerpicked acoustic guitar] [Verse 1] September held the summer close A gentle breeze moved through the pines The sunlight found a clearing green Where we stood there, side by side My trembling hand in yours to hold A quiet promise in the shade To build a life of simple grace Beside the memories we've made [Chorus] This covenant we make today Is more than words beneath the trees Through all the seasons yet to come I'll walk with you, you'll walk with me When days are bright, we'll celebrate When they are hard, we'll hold on tight Morning after morning, love I'll choose you in the early light [Verse 2] An ancient vow, a brand new start The deepest honor in your name The distant whistle of a train Before the evening campfire came We'll string the lights up in the yard And let the old acoustic play We'll dance beneath the southern stars And cherish every single day [Chorus] This covenant we make today Is more than words beneath the trees Through all the seasons yet to come I'll walk with you, you'll walk with me When days are bright, we'll celebrate When they are hard, we'll hold on tight Morning after morning, love I'll choose you in the early light [Bridge: Stripped back to bare acoustic guitar and cello] Just you and me No fancy words, no grand design Just two hearts learning how to beat In perfect time [Instrumental: Warm, spacious solo resonator guitar and fingerpicking for wedding footage] [Chorus: Lifted and emotional, full warm instrumentation] This covenant we make today Is more than words beneath the trees Through all the seasons yet to come I'll walk with you, you'll walk with me When days are bright, we'll celebrate When they are hard, we'll hold on tight Morning after morning, love I'll choose you in the early light [Outro: Slowing down, gentle acoustic guitar fades out] Still dancing through the years Side by side In the early light
