[Verse 1 – Before the Call] He sat by the road with coins in his hand Counting his worth in shifting sand The world had given him silver and shame A heart half-full, a hollow name He watched the people come and go Their eyes turned cold, their voices low A life of gain, but peace denied He wore the mask that wealth supplied [Pre-Chorus 1] But somewhere deep, a whisper stirred A longing heart that longed for more [Chorus] Then Jesus spoke his name aloud “Come, follow Me,” among the crowd And everything he thought he knew Fell away — all things made new The broken past, the empty years Were washed away by heaven’s tears Oh, grace had called, and he believed The sinner found, the soul redeemed [Verse 2 – After the Call] He walked the towns where mercy led Where hungry souls by thousands fed He saw the blind begin to see And knew the truth had set him free The hand that once took now freely gave The heart once lost now found its way And through his words, the story told Of love that ransoms hearts of gold [Pre-Chorus 2] And when the world looked down in doubt He spread the light that never burns out [Chorus] Then Jesus spoke his name aloud “Come, follow Me,” among the crowd And everything he thought he knew Fell away — all things made new The broken past, the empty years Were washed away by heaven’s tears Oh, grace had called, and he believed The sinner found, the soul redeemed [Bridge – Reflection to the Listener] And now the voice still calls today To hearts that hide, to those who stray No life’s too far, no soul too scarred For love that bears the nail-marked scars If Matthew’s heart was changed that day Then so can ours — if we obey The same soft voice still speaks your name And bids you rise from guilt and shame [Final Chorus – Shared Redemption] He’s calling you, He’s calling me To drop the chains and be set free The past erased, the soul restored The lost now found forevermore Oh, like Matthew, may we believe The sinner called — the soul redeemed [Outro] So come, my friend, and take His hand He’s turning hearts to promised land For once you meet the Savior’s eyes You’ll never live the same again
