[Intro] There is grace in every motion There is mercy in the change [Verse 1] You measured my motion from where you were standing Drew your conclusion without understanding Called it confusion ’cause I changed direction But Yah was correcting my course through connection You saw the step back never noticed the turn Never felt the lesson He needed me to learn You cannot judge what you don’t recognize Or call it rebellion through religious eyes [Pre-Chorus] You don’t know the rhythm You don’t know the pace You don’t know the conversations Happening in grace Every soul has a language Every healing has a way You called it falling backward Heaven called it sway [Chorus] Grace has rhythm Mercy makes a way You called it backsliding Heaven called it sway One step back Two toward Yah That’s how grace goes Cha-cha-cha [Verse 2] Some of my tracks illuminate the darkness once repressed I acknowledge what was buried now it leaves me less stressed I don’t fear the past returning with its teeth to find me later When I name what tried to shame me Yah keeps turning it to favor I don’t glorify the darkness I expose it to the light Give a language to the wounds we were instructed to disguise You might question every rhythm ’cause it isn’t how you praise But you cannot judge my romance when you’ve never felt the sway [Pre-Chorus 2] You heard danger in the story Yah heard freedom in the sound You condemned the dirt I mentioned He said look what she has found Every scar became a cadence Every truth reclaimed its place What you labeled inappropriate He transformed into grace [Chorus] Grace has rhythm Mercy makes a way You called it backsliding Heaven called it sway One step back Two toward Yah That’s how grace goes Cha-cha-cha [Bridge] Before you name the distance Ask who set the pace Before you call it falling Leave some room for grace The measure that you use on me May find its way to you So let your judgment lose a step And let your love come through [Final Tag] You called it wild He called it free You judged the steps He danced with me One step back Two toward Yah That’s how grace goes Cha-cha-cha
