[Intro] [Wordless female operatic cry] A bell rings once beyond the hills The clouds hold their breath [Verse 1] You left your coat beside my door Still damp from yesterday I found a match inside the pocket And watched the blue flame sway The orchard bends, the windows shake The old clock skips a beat You call my name from down the lane I meet you in the sleet [Pre-Chorus] Do not mistake my quiet For a heart that can be led I learned the shape of danger By the words you never said [Chorus] I am the hand upon the weather vane Turning where the wild winds choose I keep the spark beneath my tongue And give you nothing left to lose Come closer if you mean it Stand steady when I rise I wear the storm like silver thread And thunder answers from the sky [Verse 2] The kitchen glass is ringing now The kettle starts to sing Your photograph leans toward the wall As if it knows the thing I draw a circle in the dust With one unshaken hand The ground remembers every vow You buried in the sand [Pre-Chorus] Do not mistake my mercy For a door you may reopen I have made a crown from broken things And every shard is golden [Chorus] I am the hand upon the weather vane Turning where the wild winds choose I keep the spark beneath my tongue And give you nothing left to lose Come closer if you mean it Stand steady when I rise I wear the storm like silver thread And thunder answers from the sky [Bridge] Try to hold me, if you dare Feel the pressure in the air I was small beneath your hand Now I split the earth and land No more pleading, no retreat I can hear the pulse beneath your feet [Breakdown] [Whispered] One match One breath One name [Harsh vocal] Open the gates Let the black clouds break [Final Chorus] I am the hand upon the weather vane Turning where the wild winds choose I keep the spark beneath my tongue And give you nothing left to lose Come closer if you mean it Stand steady when I rise I wear the storm like silver thread And thunder answers from the sky [Outro] [Soaring wordless soprano] The bell rings twice The rain comes down And I remain
