Drove to the lake Got a park bench My boy and I Looked at the lake Saw a few boats And the mountains And then nothing happened, Just nothing at all. Took food out of Our picnic bag. Sweet strawberries Someone played and sung "God only knows" On a guitar. And then nothing happened, Just nothing at all. We ate muffins, Looked at the lake And drank water And then nothing happened, Just nothing at all. The singer tried Janis Joplin And sounded drunk. The sun went in, A boat docked, Some people left. And then nothing happened, Just nothing at all. We ate some cheese And sandwiches, Bought some ice cream. Looked at the lake And the sunset, Sat there quietly. And that was enough. Oooo-ooo-la-ee-ti-ooo And then nothing happened, Just nothing at all. We packed our stuff Walked by the shore And drove back home. Our day at the lake.
