[Verse 1] Back road dust on an old blue cooler Sun just burnin' a hole in the haze Truck door creak, toss the line on my shoulder Kick the mud off and bless these days [Chorus] ’Cause today is a good day to go fishin’ At my favorite spot on this old lake shore Got a cold beer sweatin’ in the shade of the willows Ain’t chasin’ nothin’, I ain’t keepin’ score It’s just me and the fish and the wide, wide silence Peace so heavy you can almost hear Yeah, this is life Just a bent rod, big sky, and a cold beer [Verse 2] Set my chair where the bank falls gentle Tie that knot like my daddy showed Watch that bobber make slow small circles Heart finally settlin’ out of the road [Chorus] ’Cause today is a good day to go fishin’ At my favorite spot on this old lake shore Got a cold beer sweatin’ in the shade of the willows Ain’t chasin’ nothin’, I ain’t keepin’ score It’s just me and the fish and the wide, wide silence Peace so heavy you can almost hear Yeah, this is life Just a bent rod, big sky, and a cold beer [Bridge] No crowds, no calls, no traffic growlin’ (mm-hmm) Just a loon way off and the water rollin’ slow If the fish don’t bite, I ain’t countin’ it wasted I already caught what I came here for [Chorus] ’Cause today is a good day to go fishin’ At my favorite spot on this old lake shore Got a cold beer sweatin’ in the shade of the willows Ain’t chasin’ nothin’, I ain’t keepin’ score It’s just me and the fish and the wide, wide silence Peace so heavy you can almost hear Yeah, this is life Just a bent rod, big sky, and a cold beer
