[male vocalist] [Make vocals more dramatic] [dramatic] [intense] The cross was rough and rugged, the thorns were ready there. The nails were sharp and rusted out, but no one seemed to care. 'Be done with him, they mocked and jeered, ' no mercy for this man. Let's take his life and celebrate, make merry while we can!' They drove the nails into his hands, and through his blessed feet. They took the spear and pierced his side, their mission was complete. Or so they thought, they did not know that this was not the end. For God had planned that dreadful day when salvation he would send. Our Saviour did not plead his case, but trusted in God's plan. That through His death and suffering He'd save the souls of men. That day He showed undying love when He gave His life for me. For through God's mercy and the cross He came to set me free. [Shorten music break] So when I see Him hanging there, I weep with thankful heart. For 'twas for me He bled and died, and I was set apart. So now I speak his lovely name And salvation by His grace. And I look towards that glorious day when I see Him face to face.
