[Intro: distorted synth pulse, stomping drums]

[Spoken]
All right.
One name.
A lot of tabs open.

[Beat drops]

Alex Mer Said.

[Backing Vocals]
Mer-Said!

[Lead]
Yeah, that’s how you say it.

[Verse 1: driving bass, confident vocal]

I’m Alex Mer Said, I build and explain
Data, code, agents, all in one lane

Open source thinking, systems and scale
Lakehouse architecture, follow the trail

Iceberg tables, Polaris too
Arrow and Parquet running through

Developer relations, books on the shelf
But I’m always still learning something myself

[Backing Vocals]
Write it!
Build it!
Teach it!
Share it!

[Lead]
If I figure something useful out
You can bet I’m gonna put it out there

[Pre-Chorus]

Blogs and talks
Books and code
Different projects
Different roads

If you’re wondering where they meet
There’s one address underneath

[Chorus: huge gang vocals]

ALEX MER-SAID!

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Lead]
Not “Merc-ed”
Not “Mer-seed”

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Lead]
If you want the whole parade

Go to—

[All Vocals]

Alex!

[Choir]
Mer-Said!

Alex!

[Choir]
Mer-Said!

[Verse 2: faster delivery]

I like open systems, pieces you can move
Standards over cages, that’s usually the groove

Data lakehouses, developer tools
Agentic systems with composable rules

Sometimes I’m writing
Sometimes I teach

Sometimes I’m on a stage
Trying to make the hard stuff easy to reach

I’ve built little apps
I’ve built libraries too
I’ve recorded more content
Than is probably healthy to do

[Backing Vocals]
One more blog!
One more repo!
One more slide!

[Lead]
Apparently I don’t know how to sit quietly

[Guitar flourish]

And honestly
That’s worked out fine

[Pre-Chorus]

You don’t need to memorize
Every project, book, or site

I’ve already made a homepage
So you don’t have to get it right

[Chorus]

ALEX MER-SAID!

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Lead]
Say it like somebody
Already made the point

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Lead]
Everything I’m working on
Starts at—

[All Vocals]

[Bridge: music drops to piano and handclaps]

[Spoken]
So what exactly do you do, Alex?

[Pause]

[Lead]
Excellent question.

[Beat returns]

I translate between builders and people
Between architecture and why it matters

Between “here’s a new technology”
And “okay, but what does it actually do?”

[Backing Vocals]
That’s useful!

[Lead]
I thought so.

[Build: drums rising]

I believe knowledge gets better
When you give it away

I believe open ecosystems
Create room to play

I believe the next big thing
Makes more sense when you learn the last

So I’m usually somewhere
Connecting future to past

[Final Chorus: key change]

MY NAME IS ALEX MER-SAID!

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Lead]
Now you’ve got it
Beautifully played

[Choir]
MER-SAID!

[Choir]

[Lead]

Then choose your ride
