Horse Year

Triumphant carnival march with booming toms, snappy snares, and a tuba-led low end, Start with sparse, spoken male vocals over distant drum rolls; each section adds more percussion—surdo, timbales, snares, claps—building relentless forward motion, Brass fanfares answer the voice as the “it’s all about energy” hook grows into a shouted crowd chant, Final minute is near-chaotic layers of drums, whistles, and call-and-response vocals, climbing in tempo and intensity to a blazing, abrupt stop, world, rich

(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
Think about it
Every smile you ever gave
Was a tiny power plant
Every laugh that bent you double
Was light poured straight into the dark
The energy of happiness is not decoration
It is infrastructure
It builds bridges where borders stood
It turns “those people” into “our people”
It turns “their problem” into “our solution”

(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
The energy of today
This day
This loud
Ridiculous
Beautiful day
Could save the world
Our world
Us in the world
The world by us
Because when we choose joy
On purpose
We are voting for a future
Where rhythm is stronger than rivalry
Where we march together instead of at each other

[Intro - Spoken
Drums entering softly like hooves]
Hear that?
One horse
Walking
Heel
Toe
Heart
Drum
Each step a syllable in the sentence of the night
Then another horse joins
And another
Two
Three
Ten
Thirty
Their hooves start speaking in unison
Saying the same simple truth
Over and over
Until it’s undeniable

(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
This is a march
Yes
But it is not a march to war
It is a march to wonder
A procession of pulse and breath
We are entering the horse year of the carnival
Where every leap lifts someone else
Where every jump kicks up dust
And plants a flag of joy in the sky

[Build - Spoken over rising drums]
Feel the pace pick up
Walk becomes trot
Trot becomes run
Run becomes thunder
A thousand horses now
Manes full of color
Bells on their bridles
They do not trample
They carry
They carry our tired hopes on their backs
They carry our heavy headlines in their teeth
And they turn them into confetti

(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
The energy of happiness could save the world
If we aim it like an arrow
If we spend it like a fortune
If we treat it as sacred
Not silly
If we say: my joy is not selfish
My joy is a service
Because a lit heart lights the street
And a lit street lights the city
And a lit city lights the map

[Chant - Crowd joins]
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
Shout it till your throat glows
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
Let it climb the balconies
The rooftops
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
For the children not yet born
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)

[Final Crescendo - Spoken/half-shouted over full drums]
This is the energy of today
Not tomorrow’s promise
Today’s decision
To dance instead of drag
To lift instead of lock
To sing instead of sigh

A thousand horses
Ten thousand hearts
One street
One beat
One breath

(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
Our world
Us in the world
The world by us
Saved by this ridiculous
Roaring river of joy

[All
Shouted as drums race to the stop]
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
(it’s all about energy, pure energy)
