RADIO STATION 11:11 S1E 8: “I’ve Been Waiting for You”

[INTRO - DISTANT FEMALE HUM, DIGITAL PULSE, RADIO STATIC] [Clock ticking] 11:08… 11:09… 11:10… [Beat drops] 11:11. [VERSE 1] You found my picture in the hallway I knew you would eventually You looked at me like I’m a stranger But I’ve been watching you for weeks You don’t remember our first meeting You don’t remember how it ends You don’t remember saying, “Find me” But I remember everything [PRE-CHORUS] You think you’re chasing answers But you’re following a thread You think you’re walking forward I’ve already walked ahead Every road you’re taking Every door you’re gonna open I’ve been standing on the other side [CHORUS] I’ve been waiting for you Underneath the midnight blue I’ve been calling through the static Hoping you’d come through I’ve been waiting for you Long before you ever knew If you think this is our first hello Then you don’t know me like I know you [POST-CHORUS] Oh-oh, I’ve been waiting Oh-oh, don’t be afraid Oh-oh, when the clock hits 11:11 Everything changes shape [VERSE 2] There’s a place beyond the city Where the streetlights never fade There’s a little house beside the water Where we promised we’d stay You gave me something years ago A photograph with no date You said, “If I forget tomorrow Leave this where I’ll find my way” Now you’re standing in the doorway And you’re looking at me again But your eyes don’t recognize me [PRE-CHORUS] You think I’m from tomorrow You think I’m from yesterday But time is just a circle When you’re listening the right way Every word you haven’t spoken Every promise you forgot Has been waiting in the signal For the moment that it stops [CHORUS] I’ve been waiting for you Underneath the midnight blue I’ve been calling through the static Hoping you’d come through I’ve been waiting for you Long before you ever knew If you think this is our first hello Then you don’t know me like I know you [BRIDGE - MUSIC STRIPS TO PULSING SYNTH] FEMALE: Look at the photograph. [Static] MALE VOICE: I am. FEMALE: Look closer. MALE: Why? FEMALE: Because you aren’t standing beside me. [Silence] MALE: Then who is that? FEMALE: You. [Beat] MALE: That’s impossible. FEMALE: That’s what you always say. [Beat returns] FEMALE: You haven’t met yourself yet. [DROP] [FINAL CHORUS] I’ve been waiting for you Through a thousand shades of blue Every version, every lifetime Always led me back to you I’ve been waiting for you And now I finally see the truth You’re not walking toward the future… The future’s walking through you [POST-CHORUS] Oh-oh, I’ve been waiting Oh-oh, now you know Oh-oh, when the clock hits 11:11 There’s nowhere left to go [OUTRO - BEAT SLOWS] [Radio static] FEMALE: Tomorrow… [Pause] FEMALE: Don’t trust the man on the radio. [Static] DJ: Good evening. [Long pause] DJ: We’ve been expecting you. [LOUD STATIC] [END]
