What is This Feeling Saying

[Intro - Spoken Word, Soft Piano, Heartbeat] My feelings are communicating. They don't always give me facts, but they always give me information. Anger may point toward a boundary. Fear may ask if I am safe. Sadness may honor what I lost. Shame may repeat a judgment that was never mine. My job is not to condemn the feeling. My job is to become curious. To hold up the mirror and ask: What is this feeling saying? [Verse 1] Anger may say, "Something crossed my line," Or, "I have abandoned myself one more time." Fear may whisper, "Please slow down and see, Does this present moment hold danger for me?" Sadness may say, "There is something to grieve, A person, a season, a hope I must release." [Pre-Chorus] A feeling is a messenger, Not always a command. I can welcome its information Without placing every choice in its hands. [Chorus - Six-Part Female Harmonies] What is this feeling saying? What is it asking me to see? Is it speaking of this moment, Or a younger part of me? I open up the mirror, I listen patiently. I clear the wound within me With love and honesty. I do not fight the feeling, I question and receive. I keep the truth and wisdom, Then release what I no longer need. [Verse 2] Jealousy may show a dream pushed aside, A gift I stopped honoring, a wish I denied. Guilt may say, "Repair what belongs to your part." Shame says, "I am broken," and covers my eyes. Loneliness may say, "I am longing to bond," Or teach me to become more present here. [Pre-Chorus] I will not call every feeling The whole and final truth. I will listen for the adult in me And the voice of my inner youth. [Chorus - Choir, Strings, Warm Bass] What is this feeling saying? What is it asking me to see? Is it speaking of this moment, Or a younger part of me? I open up the mirror, I listen patiently. I clear the wound within me With love and honesty. I do not fight the feeling, I question and receive. I keep the truth and wisdom, Then release what I no longer need. [Verse 3 - Rhythmic Spoken-Sung] Anxiety may tell me I'm scanning ahead, My body remembering a time it kept me alive. Resentment may say, "I have given too much." Numbness may say, "It was too much to feel." Joy may say, "This is nourishing you." Peace may say, "You are safe enough now." [Bridge - Spoken Word, Minimal Piano] The mirror is not for attacking myself. It is for seeing myself. When a feeling becomes intense, I pause and ask: What happened? What am I feeling? Where do I feel it in my body? What does this remind me of? How old do I feel right now? What did the child within me need that she did not receive? Protection? Comfort? Permission to speak? The right to be believed? This is how I use the mirror— not to blame the child, not to villainize the adults, but to recognize the wound and give myself what was missing. [Verse 4] A moment of fear may have attached to my voice. A moment of shame may have narrowed my choice. But now I can witness the story it made. I can thank the response that once kept me safe. I can open the door and bring light to the room, Release the old wound and give truth space to bloom. [Vocal Build - Layered Female Voices] I feel anger, and ask what needs protection. I feel fear, and ask what needs safety. I feel sadness, and honor what was lost. I feel shame, and challenge the judgment. I feel joy, and allow myself to receive it. [Final Chorus - Full Choir, Soaring Harmonies] What is this feeling saying? What is it asking me to see? Is it speaking of this moment, Or a younger part of me? I open up the mirror, I listen patiently. I clear the wound within me With love and honesty. I do not fight the feeling, I question and receive. I keep the truth and wisdom, Then release what I no longer need. My feelings are communicating. I am listening consciously. I give my inner child What she once needed from me. [Call and Response - A Cappella] Lead: Is every feeling a fact? Choir: No, but every feeling has information. Lead: What does anger sometimes reveal? Choir: A boundary, hurt, or unmet need. Lead: What does the mirror help me see? Choir: The wound beneath the reaction. All: I become aware. I remain open. I question the story. I listen within. I release the burden. I keep the wisdom. And choose again. [Outro - Soft Piano, Heartbeat, Female Humming] My feelings are not my enemies. They are voices asking to be heard. Some speak about the present. Some speak from the past. I will not suppress them. I will not worship them. I will listen. I will question. I will hold up the mirror with grace. I will care for the child beneath the reaction. And once the message is received, I will release the messenger from having to shout.
