[melodic, ethereal musical intro] [Verse 1] She got a message late one night, A promise of a life so bright, From a man with charm and mystery, A Hollywood dream, her destiny. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ah-ah-ah Mmm, mmm, mmm, la-la-la [Pre-Chorus] He said his fortune’s locked away, In need of help, just one small play, A chance to be his saving grace, To meet him face to face. [Chorus] Johnny isn’t real, but the hope is surreal, A fantasy she clings to tight, In a world that feels so right. Johnny isn’t real, yet she believes the deal, Sends her savings with a sigh, Chasing dreams in a lie. Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh [Verse 2] She tells her friends of letters sweet, How they’ll soon in Paris meet, A future with a movie star, Her one-way ticket, not so far. Mmm, mmm, mmm, la-la-la Ooh, ooh, ooh, ah-ah-ah [Pre-Chorus] He’s trapped, he says, behind a screen, But soon they’ll live the silver dream, She wires cash to free his hands, Caught up in his grand plans. [Chorus] Johnny isn’t real, but the hope is surreal, A fantasy she clings to tight, In a world that feels so right. Johnny isn’t real, yet she believes the deal, Sends her savings with a sigh, Chasing dreams in a lie. [Bridge] In her heart, she starts to see, Maybe it’s not meant to be, But the hope is hard to kill, When the void is deep to fill. Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh [Chorus] Johnny isn’t real, but the hope is surreal, A fantasy she clings to tight, In a world that feels so right. Johnny isn’t real, yet she believes the deal, Sends her savings with a sigh, Chasing dreams in a lie. [Outro] Now she’s left with empty hands, A broken heart, lost in the sands, Johnny was a tale too good, A warning, if we only could. Mmm, mmm, mmm, la-la-la Ooh, ooh, ooh, ah-ah-ah
