# WELCOME TO THE SHOW

**[Intro – whispered / carnival organ]**
Step right up...
Come a little closer...
Don't be afraid.
The show is about to begin.

**[Verse 1]**
Red lights dancing on the walls,
Smoke is crawling through the floor,
Hear the laughter, hear the calls,
You don't know what you came here for.
Painted faces, hollow eyes,
Every smile hides a little sin,
The curtains shake, the music cries—

**Come on in.**

**[Pre-Chorus]**
The lights go down,
The drums begin,
There's no way out...

**Once you step in.**

**[Chorus]**
**Welcome to the show,**
**Where the wicked come to play,**
**Where the clowns don't laugh**
**And the dead don't stay away.**
**Take your seat, don't ask why,**
**Watch the angels learn to fly—**
**Welcome to the show,**
**Ladies and gentlemen...**
**Enjoy the ride.**

**[Verse 2]**
There's a girl upon the tightrope,
Dancing high above the crowd,
She whispers names of people gone
While the orchestra plays loud.
The jester wears a crooked grin,
With a knife beneath his sleeve,
And the ringmaster tips his hat—

**“You really should not leave.”**

**[Pre-Chorus]**
The lights go down,
The curtains rise,
Something wicked
Is wearing your disguise.

**[Bridge – quiet / unsettling]**
Round and round the carousel,
Hear the little children sing,
Round and round the painted horses,
Round and round...

**Until the bell rings.**

The ringmaster leans close,
And whispers in my ear:

**“You came here looking for a show...”**

**“...but the show has always been you.”**

**[Breakdown – circus chant]**
**STEP RIGHT UP!**
**TAKE YOUR PLACE!**
**PUT A SMILE UPON YOUR FACE!**

**STEP RIGHT UP!**
**DON'T BE LATE!**
**THE CIRCUS NEVER CLOSES ITS GATE!**

**[Final Chorus – huge]**
**WELCOME TO THE SHOW!**
**WHERE THE WICKED COME TO PLAY!**
**WHERE THE CLOWNS DON'T LAUGH**
**AND THE DEAD DON'T STAY AWAY!**

**TAKE YOUR SEAT!**
**DON'T ASK WHY!**
**WATCH THE ANGELS LEARN TO FLY!**

**WELCOME TO THE SHOW!**
**LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...**

**THE CIRCUS NEVER DIES.**

**[Outro – distorted calliope]**
*Step right up...*
*Step right up...*

**The next performance is yours.**
