(Intro) They call ’em the golden years… Honey, I call ’em senior moments! ⸻ Verse 1 Mama and Pawpaw used to tell me, “Just you wait and see…” I just laughed back then and shook my head— Said, “That won’t happen to me.” My get-up-and-go went away, Chasin’ that rainbow of gold— Now I can’t even find it no more… Guess I’m finally gettin’ old. ⸻ Verse 2 My eyesight’s gone, can’t read a thing, Hold it close then far— Bifocals got me dizzy now, Can’t even find my car. Hearin’ aids buzz all day long, Pick up every sound— Dog barkin’, TV squawkin’… Still can’t hear what’s goin’ down. ⸻ 🎶 Chorus Senior moments, all day long, Walk in a room—forget what’s wrong. Can’t find my glasses, teeth, or cane… Buy another one again! Senior moments, golden years… Full of laughs and achy tears. But I still smile and carry on— Old age ain’t for sissies, hon! ⸻ Verse 3 Had to go from steak and meat… Now it’s soup each day— Take my teeth out for a while… Hope they don’t walk away! Then I have one of them senior moments, “Where’d they go?” I say— They were sittin’ right here beside me… Now they vanished away! Couldn’t find my glasses nowhere, Looked all over the house— Somebody laughed and pointed at me, Said, “They’re sittin’ on your head right now!” ⸻ Verse 4 Used to jump off the top of the house, Climb trees up so high— Swing from limbs like Tarzan did, Thought I could almost fly. Pawpaw used to shake his head, Laugh and point at me— Said, “Boy, all this wild stuff you’re doin’ now… Gonna catch up someday, you’ll see.” I said, “No Pawpaw, that won’t happen— Not to somebody like me!” Now I grunt just gettin’ outta bed… And laugh at the irony. Now I can’t even lift my leg To get in the car and drive— Funny how Mama and Pawpaw’s words Come back the longer you’re alive. ⸻ 🌟 Bridge But I’ll tell you where the gold is now— And this part’s plain to see… It’s them grandkids runnin’ wild and free, Climbin’ up on me. They don’t care about my achy back, Or how slow I’ve become— To them I’m still the strongest one… And the best place to run. ⸻ 🎶 Final Chorus / Outro Senior moments, every day… Laugh a little anyway. My bucket list is short these days, Just one thing left to go— Find my get-up-and-go again… And see how far I’ll go! (Repeat upbeat with harmonies) Find my get-up-and-go again… And see how far I’ll go! 🎶
