Yes. This one should be the song that teaches the word. I’d make Pharmakeia the hook, and keep the distinction between medicine and the biblical use of the word so the song doesn’t claim that every medicine is sorcery. Pharmakeia Verse 1 Pharmakeia Hear the ancient word Medicine and potion Poison, too, were heard A substance that could heal you A substance that could harm A potion in the hands of man Could be a cure or charm Pharmakeia What did the ancients know? Something in the substance Something in the flow The healer and the poisoner The potion and the spell One could bring you healing One could bring you hell Chorus Pharmakeia Pharmakeia What are you putting in your soul? Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Are you healing Or losing control? Pharmakeia Don’t just take the name Look at what you’re using Look at why you came Verse 2 In the writings of the ancient world The word begins to change Sorcery and witchcraft Enter into range Galatians says the word Revelation says it too A warning about deception And what deception does to you Drugs and potions Idols and desire Using something outside yourself To find a higher fire But here’s the part We have to understand Not every medicine Is evil in the hands of man The word has history The meaning isn’t black and white The question is the purpose And what you’re using it to invite Chorus Pharmakeia Pharmakeia What are you putting in your soul? Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Are you healing Or losing control? Pharmakeia Don’t just take the name Look at what you’re using Look at why you came Bridge What are you trying to escape? What are you trying to numb? What are you trying to silence Before the truth can come? Are you seeking something higher? Are you trying to control? Are you treating just the symptom While you’re losing something whole? Bypass God Bypass pain Bypass truth Again and again Anything to keep from feeling Anything to make you whole But what happens when the potion Becomes the thing that owns your soul? Breakdown Pharmakeia Not a word to fear Pharmakeia A word to hear Look at the history Look at the use Look at the power You put in what you choose Medicine can heal Medicine can harm The substance isn’t everything It’s the hand And the heart And the purpose And the why Final Chorus Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Don’t let the word become a lie Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Look beneath it Ask yourself why Are you healing? Are you hiding? Are you facing what you feel? Are you reaching for a potion When there’s something else to heal? Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Know the word Know the past Know the power Of the things you ask Pharmakeia Pharmakeia Don’t just label Don’t just blame Understand the substance Understand the name.
