The Hobbit - There and back again
[Verse 1] In a hole in the ground where the kettle sings, Bilbo Baggins lived a life of small, soft things! No maps! No quests! Just biscuits and peace! Then Gandalf arrived and the calm must cease! A knock! A shout! A kitchen crew! Thirteen rowdy dwarves and a wizard too! “Home’s lovely,” Bilbo says, “I’m staying put!” But adventure winks and kicks down the rut! Let's go, you lazy blighters! [Chorus] Hey-ho, off we go, through rain and hill and pine, With songs and snacks and a very bad line! From a snug little burrow to a mountain of fire, We’re chasing lost treasure and a dragon’s ire! There and back again! Oi! Oi! Oi! [Verse 2] Trolls in the moonlight! Bickering and stew! Elven halls where the sweet wine flows through! Wargs in the dark! Goblins below! Down a deep mountain tunnel they go, go, go! Riddles in the black... a creature in sight... A gold ring in the mud... hidden from light! “Why does it whisper? Why does it cling?” Run, Bilbo, run! That’s a tricky little ring! “My precious... Ssss... My precious...” [Bridge] The shadow starts to grow! Bilbo slips it on, running the show! Sneaking past spiders! Escaping by boat! Stuffing his face in a barrel to float! Then Smaug bursts awake in a blaze of red, Shouting sparks and pride from his greedy gold bed! FIRE! [Chorus] Hey-ho, off we go, through rain and hill and pine, With songs and snacks and a very bad line! From a snug little burrow to a mountain of fire, We’re chasing lost treasure and a dragon’s ire! There and back again! [Outro] The battle is won, the gold is shared, And the small little hobbit is a bit less scared. Back to tea... to the hill once more... Still the same Bilbo... Just a bit more lore. There and back again.
