Lyrics and lead vocals by Steven R. Drennon, ©️ 2026 Lyrics may not be remixed, used as prompts for AI, or otherwise reproduced without consent. Please check out my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@firstep3 If by chance she ever agrees to come your way, She'll ask for a raincheck on that very day. If you ask her to lunch, she'll tell you maybe next week. She says that she'll call, but then you never speak. A promise is just a suggestion to her, 'Cause she'll always do whatever she prefers. She's dodgy as hell, and she's hard to pin down. You want to be with her, but she's never around. In case you ain't figured that girl out just yet, Rainchecks, maybes, and promises are all that you'll ever get. She just might agree to even spend the night, Then ask for a raincheck, and that just ain't right. You ask her for "something" to prove your love is strong, Then she'll say maybe to string you along. The next time she backs out on what she promised to do, She'll promise that she will make it up to you. She's dodgy as hell, and she's hard to pin down. You want to be with her, but she's never around. In case you ain't figured that girl out just yet, Rainchecks, maybes, and promises are all that you'll ever get. Don't think of rainchecks as closing a door. That's what the maybes and promises are for. Don't ever dare to think that you'll be getting more. She's dodgy as hell, and she's hard to pin down. You want to be with her, but she's never around. In case you ain't figured that girl out just yet, Rainchecks, maybes, and promises are all that you'll ever get.
