[Intro] Eh... Mind the bucket there. Roof's leakin' again. Been meanin' ter fix it. Last three years, actually. [Verse 1] Rain loud. Wind worse. Fang sprawled belly-up by the hearth first. Wet boots. Mud track. One chair's got a broken back. Should've fixed tha' too. Ah well. Never enough hours in a day, yeh know. Castle up there all gold light. Windows glowin' through the night. Students laughin'. Plates piled high. Can hear it sometimes if the wind's right. Me? Got smoke. Got wood. Got Fang. Got tea. Good enough fer me. Mostly. Half-giant. There. Said it fer yeh. Saves everybody whisperin'. Funny thing, people lower their voices when they say it. Like giants got bad hearin'. [Hook] Too big. Too rough. Too loud, they say. Too strange ter keep. Too wild ter stay. Still opened the door when Harry came. Still carried the boy through fire an' flame. Funny ol' thing— the monsters usually knew me name. [Verse 2] Met Harry soaked through on a rock at sea. Poor little bloke stared up at me. "Yer a wizard." Simple as tha'. Changed his whole life with four words. Still remember his face. Not the scar. The look. Like nobody'd ever told him somethin' good before. Bought him a cake. Sat on it by accident. Well— partly. Looked better before the journey. Boy liked it anyway. Funny what people remember. Not the dragons. Not the giants. Not the magic. Birthday cake. Aragog remembered me. Buckbeak trusted me. Norbert near took off a finger. Healthy appetite. Good sign in a dragon. [Bridge] Eh—listen. Folks decide what creatures are before they know 'em. Big teeth? Dangerous. Big claws? Dangerous. Big bloke in an oversized coat livin' near a forest? Apparently dangerous too. Lot o' rubbish. Some o' the worst things I ever met wore polished shoes. [Verse 3] War came back. Could feel it. Forest knew first. Always does. Birdsong changed. Spiders moved deeper. Even the thestrals got restless. Students still tried pretendin'. Children do tha'. Think if they laugh loud enough, bad things'll wait outside. Then Harry walked inter the forest. Didn't say much. Never needed ter. Knew where he were goin'. Knew what it meant. Wanted ter stop him. Didn't. Still hate tha'. Carried him back after. Thought he were gone. Great stupid hands. Big enough ter lift him. Not big enough ter keep him safe. [Final Hook] Too big. Too rough. Too strange, they said. Too soft fer giants. Too wild fer them. Couldn't do magic proper no more. Still stood watch outside the door. Funny ol' world— everybody wants kindness. Nobody thinks it's important till things get dark. [Outro] Eh... Reckon most creatures ain't bad. Most people neither. Mostly— they're jus' frightened. An' frightened things bite.
