FRANK 030 – The Creature at the Coffin | Frankenstein

(Verse 1) Upon the frozen vessel his maker breathed his last, And all their years of hatred became the buried past. Then through the cabin darkness the Creature ventured near, And stood beside the coffin with sorrow born of fear. (Verse 2) He bent above his maker and softly spoke his name, Confessing every murder, each misery and shame. The vengeance once sustaining him had vanished with that breath, And nothing now remained there but solitude and death. (Chorus) He mourned beside the coffin for everything undone, The father who had hated the life he called his son. No victory could comfort him, no vengeance could remain, For Victor’s death had ended the purpose of his pain. (Verse 3) To Walton he confessed then the hatred he had known, How every crime had deepened the misery of alone. He knew the blood behind him could never be restored, And cursed the bitter vengeance his wounded heart adored. (Verse 4) He promised that no living soul would suffer by his hand, For soon his funeral pyre would burn upon the land. Beyond the ship lay darkness, the frozen wastes and snow, And there without another he finally meant to go. (Chorus) He mourned beside the coffin for everything undone, The father who had hated the life he called his son. No victory could comfort him, no vengeance could remain, For Victor’s death had ended the purpose of his pain. (Bridge) The maker and the made one had ruined what they sought, And love denied between them had poisoned every thought. One died consumed by vengeance, one chose the final fire, And both became the victims of pride and lost desire. (Outro) He climbed beyond the window and vanished from the light, A giant growing smaller within the Arctic night. Somewhere upon the ice fields his final flames would rise, Then smoke would bear his sorrow beneath the frozen skies.
