[BOMBING SOUNDS] [EXPOSLION] [VERSE} So this is Christmas, the lights are arranged Every promise repeated, every ending delayed The screen shows white noise dressed up as snow They say it’s almost finished But we already know [Pre-Chorus] Candles flicker like borders on a map Drawn in silence, then quietly snapped [Chorus] So this is Christmas Still not over Wrapped in songs we pretend to believe So this is Christmas Hands in pockets While the world keeps learning how to bleed [Verse 2] There’s peace in the shopping malls tonight Discounted hope in electric light A choir hums softly, slightly out of tune As somewhere else the night arrives too soon [Pre-Chorus] They toast to love, to a brand new start But the future’s already pulling apart [Chorus] So this is Christmas Still not over Say it slowly, say it again So this is Christmas Silent wishes Breaking down like fragile men [Bridge – melodramatic, stripped] If words were enough We’d be done by now If prayers worked We’d have learned how [Final Chorus – bigger, kitsch] So this is Christmas Still not over Choirs cry where bombs once fell So this is Christmas Beautiful disaster Peace for sale, but never held [Outro] So this is silence. So this is now.
