The heavy clouds are hanging in the room I lose my shadow in the quiet gloom The days are blending in a steady gray There is no reason left to walk away Just standing frozen as the wind blows bare And breathing in the heavy, static air The thunder murmurs in the empty hall I watch the endless rain begin to fall It feels like sinking in a sea of lead A heavy blanket pulled above my head The earth is turning but my feet are stuck Just hiding in the silence, out of luck But then a fracture in the heavy gray A narrow yellow line that cuts the day It hits the dust and softly warms the floor A quiet promise underneath the door The storm is tired and the wind is slow A little spark to let the darkness go
