We Came to Worship Him
Verse 1 From towers, streets, and prison light, we called a wandering land— “Turn back to God, be born again,” the still small voice at hand. A day, a night, a day would shine; a star would mark His birth; The mercy-sign to wake our faith and heal a broken earth. Pre-Chorus When shadowed hearts set dates to kill, the heavens answered clear— “No darkness now; the Child will come;” the morning mercy near. Chorus We came to worship Him— The Son of God, our King. The star went on before, And every fear grew thin. Knees to the manger floor, Hearts open, pure and plain— Jesus, Redeemer, Lord, Be born in us again. Verse 2 We left the lands that knew our names at whispers of the Lord, By angel words and holy fire, by peace that kept its course. To Bethlehem the Light stood still above the promised One; We bowed with gifts of faith and love—His grace our richest sum. Pre-Chorus When kings grew cruel and rumors burned, the Spirit led our way— Another road, another dawn, to serve Him every day. Chorus We came to worship Him— The Son of God, our King. The star went on before, And every fear grew thin. Knees to the manger floor, Hearts open, pure and plain— Jesus, Redeemer, Lord, Be born in us again. Bridge Signs fade, but Jesus stays; Hope lives where He abides. Lead on, Immanuel— Our Light that never dies. Chorus (tag) We came to worship Him… Jesus, our everything.
