Rowdy, Bammer, Jacques

Bright, upfront acoustic guitars mingle with crisp drums and a twangy electric lead, but the arrangement feels almost playfully exaggerated, The tempo keeps things moving, while steel guitar and fiddles are layered in with a tongue-in-cheek flair, giving the song an energetic, cheeky texture

[Verse] We were all sick with love, drinkin' as much as we could I was fresh out of luck, havin' a hard time growin' up Rowdy was at it again, in the corner, hittin' on some friend of my sister's And Bammer was fallin' down drunk and throwin' up in the kitchen [Chorus] And Jacques was asleep on the couch That's why we don't let him out The sun goes down and he heads to town And he won't come home 'til he hears that sound Of me callin', "Rowdy, Bammer, Jacques" [Verse 2] There was a girl I used to know who had a cat named Jacques He was half mountain lion, half alley cat She let him out after dark And she'd stand at the back door and holler out, "Rowdy, Bammer, Jacques" [Chorus] We'd go out to the bar, take some girls to the farm We'd sit up all night drinkin' until we saw the light I don't know how it went down, but he was with us all the time, and it just stuck It's been fifteen years and I still think of him when I get drunk [Chorus] And Jacques is asleep on the couch That's why we don't let him out The sun goes down and he heads to town And he won't come home 'til he hears that sound Of me callin', "Rowdy, Bammer, Jacques"
