Investing in a Kingdom (The Unjust Steward)
(Verse 1) Got called into the office, papers on the desk, "Your time is running out—you've made a mighty mess." He knew the clock was ticking, knew the end was near, So he started making friends before he'd disappear. Called the debtors one by one, "Let's rewrite what's due." "Take your bill and cut it down—that'll help us both get through." Wasn't praised for crooked hands or cheating for his gain, But for seeing tomorrow before the coming rain. (Pre-Chorus) Every dollar's fading like the dust beneath my boots, Every treasure here will rot unless it's bearing fruit. (Chorus) I'm investing in a Kingdom that this world can't tear apart, Laying up my treasure where the King can see my heart. "Where your treasure is, your heart will always be" (Matthew 6:21), I'm trading earthly riches for eternity. No, I won't bow down to gold— Christ alone is worth far more than silver ever holds. You can't serve two masters—that's the Savior's call (Luke 16:13), I'd rather lose everything, than lose my Lord at all. (Verse 2) The sons of this old world can plan for years ahead, While saints forget the promises our Shepherd plainly said. Every blessing He's entrusted isn't ours to keep, We're stewards of His mercy, sowing where we'll never reap. Be faithful in the little things; He'll trust you with much more (Luke 16:10), Every open hand becomes another Kingdom door. Money makes a servant but a terrible king; Jesus owns tomorrow—that changes everything. (Spoken Bridge) Not prosperity... But stewardship. Not building my kingdom... But building His. Every paycheck. Every minute. Every breath. All for Christ. (Breakdown) The cross is my fortune. Grace is my reward. The Lamb is my treasure— Forever my Lord. Final Chorus I'm investing in a Kingdom where no moth can ever feed, No thief can steal the riches growing from a mustard seed. Faithful with the little till He says, "Well done." Every gift returned in service to the Holy One. One Master. One Savior. One cross. One King. The world can have its treasures— Jesus is my everything. Outro "Seek first His Kingdom..." (Matthew 6:33) "You cannot serve God and wealth." (Luke 16:13) I'm counting every earthly gain as loss for Christ alone (Philippians 3:7–8), Until the faithful Steward brings His children home.
