[Verse 1] Hunter began to wander around the place, Eyeing one or two familiar faces. One in a nearby booth held particular interest, To her old acquaintance, she’d soon attest. [Verse 2] She sat down in the booth across from him, Looked at the man lying, weary and grim. She knew who this was, a friend from long ago, Now he seemed a drunk, putting on a show. [Verse 3] She doubted he remembered her after all these years, Over seven since they'd both switched gears. The drunk moved slightly, she leaned in close, Lifted his head, his smile arose. [Verse 4] "Hullo, Hunter," his voice echoed in her mind, His lips unmoving, a connection she did find. Her eyes widened, a mind left after all, Surprised he'd recalled her talent's thrall. [Verse 5] They shared a past, when she thought she was insane, Together they discovered her power’s domain. Not by chance they'd been in the same place, He'd rescued her off colony fourteen’s space. [Verse 6] His voice loud now, "you don’ wanna look there," She pondered on his memories rare. Rested her chin on folded hands, "I'm not looking, just hoping for a chance." [Verse 7] "Join me in a drink?" he mumbled so weak, "I’ll buy," he offered with a cheeky streak. "You said it was poison all those years," "I lied back then," he slurred through his tears. [Verse 8] His head slumped, as memories rushed, Could this be the same lively man who looks so crushed? From doctor’s puzzle to this, to wearing out, The figure there left little doubt. [Verse 9] She glanced around, Spook knew of their tale, The bar whispering his unseen trail. Hunter stepped up, her query clear, "Know where laughing boy there holes up here?" [Verse 10] Bartender motioned upwards with his thumb, “Apartment upstairs, don’t know the sum. Not under arrest, just a good port hand," Hunter smiled, understanding his stand. [Verse 11] She pressed on, the uniform deception, Business awaited, her focused perception. Mister Stingray won’t be back soon, A key secured, under the bar’s boon. [Verse 12] She retrieved the key, approached the booth, Lifted the figure with silent truth. Carried him away from the lively throng, “We got our spacer,” she noted strong.
