Symphony No.7 “Hymn to Muse” 4th Mov.
Symphony No. 7 "Hymn to the Muses" After composing and releasing Symphony No. 6, I struggled to come up with a plan for my next work (this one, No. 7), but an unexpected path opened up, and I'm now able to release it. This short symphony, consisting of five movements, was created with a desire to return to the origins of music. "Musical beauty"—rather than striving for music that's unnecessarily difficult to understand, I composed this piece with the desire to create a work that is easy to listen to and, if possible, conveys the beauty of music. I tried to retain as much classical flair as possible, but was careful not to create music that, in the name of classical music, frequently features dissonances or obscure motifs. As a result, this music combines classical elements with the simplicity of film music. Still, I'm pleased that the flute motif at the beginning of the first movement, the "Muse's Theme," manages to color the entire piece, albeit in a slightly altered form, thereby maintaining a sense of structural unity. Movement 1: "The Call" The flute's lively, ascending "Muse's Theme" awakens the orchestra and begins to play. Soon, the music builds to a first climax. The melody retains its brightness and the shining harmonies. Strings seem to soar into the heavens. A brass fanfare evokes a clear morning. The flute solo weaves through the space, leaping and bouncing. This is a movement of musical delight. Movement 2: "Celestial Dance" A celestial dance performed alongside the Muse. The 6/8 time signature, with its inherent 3/4 time signature, is reminiscent of the classical dance form of the gigue. The melody played in tandem with the gigue rhythm is rich in melodic nuances, once again expressing a longing for antiquity and the classics. Frequent interplay between woodwinds and strings transforms the orchestra into a single organic entity. Third Movement: "The Second Call" A flute solo begins again, playing a slightly modified version of the "Muse's Theme." The orchestra responds to this call with new music. This time, it's in 3/4 time, again creating an impression somewhere between a classical minuet and a scherzo. Another homage to the classics. The music continues with vigor and eventually ends. Fourth Movement: "Undulating, Rolling Music" A small, repeated figure begins with the flute. Small, undulating movements, like rippling waves, gradually develop and are played by various instruments. The undulating sounds sometimes rise and sometimes sink. The gentle movements form a song. Fifth Movement: "The Joy of Sound" The flute begins with a variation of the "Muse's Theme" from the first movement. The orchestra responds to this call with a scale befitting the final movement. This time, a classical harmonic progression quickly emerges, and the music progresses through various forms with striking movements. The syncopated, modern sound that appears immediately after the classical harmonic progression is extremely impressive. The music ends abruptly, scattering the beauty of the music and joy of sound.
