Beyond the Age of Material Things

Paper 195 – After Pentecost 🎶 Song: Beyond the Age of Material Things (Introduction – The Long Road After Pentecost) After the fire of Pentecost, The seed of truth crossed every coast. Through Greek wisdom and Roman power, It flourished in its destined hour. Empires rose and kingdoms fell, Through centuries no tongue could tell. Yet still beneath the noise of time, A living truth refused to die. Men conquered seas and charted stars, Built mighty nations, fought great wars. Yet every heart would someday bring The ancient search for deeper things. And through the ages came the call: The Father loves and guides us all. (Verse 1 – The Greeks and Romans) The Greeks supplied the searching mind, A love of truth for all mankind. They shaped the questions thinkers raised, And helped the gospel face new days. The Romans built enduring ways, Roads that would serve the coming age. Their order carried far and wide The message born on Jordan's side. Yet Jesus brought a greater view Than scholars, kings, or empires knew. A living faith within the soul, Where God and man may become whole. (Pre-Chorus) The world was weary, scarred by pain, Rich in knowledge, poor in gain. For all its glory, strength, and art, It could not satisfy the heart. (Chorus) Beyond material things we seek, The answer every soul must meet. Beyond ambition, wealth, and fame, The Father's love remains the same. Beyond the theories of the age, Beyond the prison of the page, The Spirit softly calls us near, And tells us why we're truly here. (Verse 2 – The Great Compromise) The faith of Jesus spread abroad, And touched the peoples seeking God. Yet as the centuries rolled along, The simple message was made strong By human systems, creeds, and laws, Mixed with customs and ancient norms. Still through the layers one truth survived, The Father's love remained alive. The church proclaimed the risen Son, And all the mighty things He'd done. Yet Jesus pointed still above, Toward the Father's endless love. (Bridge – The Religion of Jesus) Not merely faith in Him alone, But faith like His before the throne. Not only praise from far away, But walking as He walked each day. The Fatherhood of God above, The brotherhood of man through love. No higher truth has yet been found, On earth or any world around. (Verse 3 – The Modern Problem) The modern age unlocked the skies, And filled the world with vast supplies. Science revealed creation's ways, And lit the darkness of old days. Yet still humanity would ask: What is the purpose of our task? Why do we hope? Why do we strive? What gives our fleeting years their life? The mind can measure stars that shine, Yet cannot fully define The love that moves the human soul, Or why we seek a greater goal. (Bridge – The Challenge of Materialism) Material progress has its place, Its triumphs bless the human race. Yet comfort cannot satisfy The longing no possession buys. When illness comes or dreams are lost, When sorrow shows its heavy cost, The soul still seeks a living light, To guide it through the darkest night. For man is more than dust and clay, More than a creature of a day. Within each heart there burns a flame, Forever reaching whence it came. (Secondary Chorus – The Future) Science and faith shall walk as one, Beneath the light of God's bright sun. Reason and spirit reconciled, The Father knowing every child. Philosophy shall help us see, The meaning of reality. And truth, wherever it is found, Will stand on sacred common ground. When faith and reason stand as friends, And truth no longer needs defense, The search of mind and soul combined, Will lift the progress of mankind. (Verse 4 – The Future) A brighter age still lies ahead, Beyond the fears that now are spread. When science, wisdom, truth, and grace, Together find their rightful place. The future waits for those who see The value of humanity. Who build a world where all belong, And make God's family more strong. For every honest path may lead Toward understanding what we need. The mind may learn, the soul may grow, And both reveal what God would show. (Final Chorus) Beyond material things we rise, Toward everlasting Paradise. The Father leads His children still, Through every age and every hill. Beyond division, fear, and strife, There shines the meaning of all life. The Fatherhood of God above, The brotherhood of man through love. (Outro – The Hope of the Ages) Empires vanish into dust, Philosophies decay and rust. But truth survives the passing years, Beyond our failures and our fears. And when the noise of time is gone, The Father's purpose still lives on. One family beneath the skies, Forever destined to arise. The search of ages leads us home, Across the stars we yet shall roam. Children of God, by faith we stand; Brothers and sisters, hand in hand. The Fatherhood of God above, The brotherhood of man through love. 🎶
