Passwords for Pirates

+ Show full styles
V5

In the tavern late at night we convene Maps and treasures, a pirate’s dream But to unlock the chest of old We need the password, so we’re told Captain grins with a toothless stare “The code’s the lock, the key is air” Parrots twitch and lanterns glow But what’s the word? We need to know Aye! It’s “SAIL” the seven seas! Rejected flat ... no ifs or pleas “GOLD&SILVER1” Still denied when all is done “RUM” we hammer with a grin Access denied. Try again. One-Eyed Pete says, “Spell it clean!” “PiecesOfEight” ... I mean Blackbeard bellows “YOHOHO” Still the cursed lock tells us no Mad Mary slams “Skull&Cross” We howl aloud at total loss Caps lock on? Caps lock off? How many tries before we’re lost? Aye! “CAPTAIN!” “DeadMenTellNoTales” again “TreasureChest123” Still won’t yield its heart to me Blind and cursed in tavern light Locked out deep into the night Old Jack mutters, scratching beard “Maybe we’ve over-engineered…” Smashed the glass and kicked the bricks We’re sick of all these clever tricks He spits once slow and wipes his chin “Drop the drama. Type it in.” So we lean in close and still No thunder left, no iron will No marks, no runes, no mystic rites Just tired hands in tavern light Plain and simple, spare and bare No great thunder in the air We tap it soft ... no boast, no roar “PasswordForPirates” Aye! It flashes green and bright! Bolts recoil and leap from sight No secret sign, no hidden lore Just simple words to claim the store Raise a glass and shout it twice: “PasswordForPirates!” “PasswordForPirates!” So heed this tale when next you sail Heavy minds don’t catch the gale Keep it sharp and keep it light Type it once — and type it right “PasswordForPirates.” Yarrr!
