[Verse 1] The world keeps turning, tangled up in wrong, Its troubles rise, but I don't sing its song. I make my way through it, but I won't be owned, A steady faith is carrying me and I know I'm not alone. Wickedness will do what wickedness will do, But we wrestle not with flesh and blood, me and you. [Pre-Chorus] "In this world you'll have your trouble" — so He said, But peace was left in me, so I move ahead. Don't love the world, don't let the enemy win, Let the will of God be the pulse that beats within. [Chorus] In the world — but not, not of it! (He has overcome, He has overcome!) The world's gonna pass, but I rise above it! (He has overcome, He has overcome!) Renew the mind, let the old self drown, The Kingdom's coming, lay the glory down — In the world, but I'm NOT — not of it! (Take heart! Take heart! He has overcome!) [Verse 2] They told me trouble waits at every gate, "In this world you'll suffer" — I don't hesitate. Take heart, take heart, He's overcome it all, So I keep my faith in the One that will tear down this wall. The accuser would have me in his mold, But I renew my mind, I break iniquities hold. Take heart! He has overcome!) [Verse 3] Let the wrongdoer keep on with the wrong, Let the vile stay vile — I'm still singing my song. The seal is set, the characters are fixed, I won't get tangled in the fog and tricks. No soldier of the fire plays civilian games, I keep my eyes on Jesus, I answer to His flame. Take heart! He has overcome!) [Bridge: spoken/whispered over pulsing synth, building] Do not conform... be like the divine... Be transformed by the renewing of your mind... The world will pass, the desire will fade, With the will of the One I am never afraid. [drums drop, then explode] Overcome! Overcome! Overcome! [Verse 4] Do not love the world or the things it sells, The desire passes like a fading bell. The world grows old, its glory fades to gray, But the will of God will never fade away. I'm in it, walking through this fallen world, But I'm not of it — watch the Kingdom come! Keep the devil on the run! [Pre-Chorus] Don't love the world, don't let the enemy win, Let the will of God be the pulse that beats within. [Final Chorus] In the world — but not, not of it! (He has overcome, He has overcome!) The world's gonna pass, but I rise above it! (He has overcome, He has overcome!) Wickedness grows while the faithful stand, But the Prince of Peace is holding my hand! (He has overcome, He has overcome!) Renew the mind, let the old self drown, The Kingdom's coming, lay the glory down — In the world, but I'm NOT — not of it! (Take heart! Take heart! He has overcome!) [vocal ad-libs over the fade] Overcome... overcome... (I'm not of it, no, no) Take heart... take heart... (the Holy Spirit fills me) Overcome... overcome...
