Mercy Misunderstood

They say mercy weak, they say love too light, They don’t know it took nails to fight. They call it soft when it spares the spite, But mercy’s what made wrongs turn right. Yo, they say “vengeance — that’s the throne,” But mercy builds what wrath disowns. They think compassion means condone, But mercy’s war — grace full-grown. They say “don’t let it slide, they’ll never learn,” But mercy’s fire — it still burns. It ain’t a pass, it’s a purge that turns, The heart from hate when the Spirit churns. They think “forgive” means “forget the pain,” But mercy stares dead in the stain. It sees the hurt, it heals the chain, It writes redemption through the rain. You see, mercy ain’t cowardice — it’s might refined, It’s judgment tempered by love divine. It’s the Lion’s roar in a Lamb’s design, It’s justice wrapped in Heaven’s spine. It don’t play games with what’s untrue, It just redeems what wrath can’t do. Mercy ain’t cheap — it costs Him too, Every drop of blood bought me and you. They say “you too forgiving, man, that’s weak,” But it takes more power to turn the cheek. To bless the hands that cut you deep, To sow where hate don’t dare to reap. They preach strength in power’s tone, But mercy fights from a higher throne. It kills the curse, it breaks the bone, Of vengeance’ chain — and love’s made known. You ever wonder why the proud can’t bow? Why they mock His grace right now? ‘Cause mercy offends the flesh somehow, It humbles kings, it breaks the vow. They want payback — that human rule, But God said “love,” they called it cruel. They mocked the cross, the holy jewel, But mercy reigns — eternal school. Mercy forgave what they said was done, Raised the dead, called shame undone. It gave the throne to the broken son, While the law kept score — mercy won. That’s the scandal, that’s the flame, The thing religion can’t contain. They preach control, He preached His name, Mercy moved where rules bring shame. You can’t bottle grace, can’t fence love in, Can’t trademark the cross for spin. Mercy breaks the mold of sin, And calls the vilest soul His kin. The prodigal’s feast, the thief’s last breath, The tears that washed the feet of death. The blind man’s cry — the Spirit’s depth, Mercy dances where judgment wept. And I’ve seen mercy break a man, Turn his pride into open hands. Turn the curse into a plan, Turn rebellion into “Here I stand.” That’s not weakness — that’s divine design, Mercy rewrote the end of time. It’s thunder soft in Spirit’s rhyme, The calm in chaos, truth sublime. So yeah, I’m merciful — call me soft, You don’t know what grace’s blood cost. Mercy found me when I was lost, That’s strength — not weakness — that’s the cross. They’ll never grasp why love forgives, ‘Cause mercy ain’t bound by how flesh lives. It’s Heaven’s justice — the King relives, And through His scars, true power gives.
