[Instrumental] [Verse 1] I left the noise of the city behind Searching for peace that I could not find Traded my watch for the sun and the moon Left it all behind for the hopes of something new [Verse 2] Forgot the rush now I take it slow Planted a seed just to watch it grow Barefoot on dirt feeling earth's embrace Living a life that time can't erase [Pre-Chorus] Back to the basics where it all began No struggle or strife just the dirt on my hands Stripped of the chaos no need to pretend Looking for the life of a free willed man [Chorus] I'm going back (back) Back to the basics I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Where nothing is easy But everything's bliss Where peace of mind and freedom roam A place where I am never alone I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Don't leave me alone You need to see this Where we get our happiness from the land and the air A place where we can't possibly feel despair [Instrumental] [Verse 3] The sound of the crickets is my lullaby Stars in the sky tell the stories of time Built me a home with my two bare hands What else could I want than my own little land [Verse 4] The weight of the world I left it behind I carry no gold just peace in my mind The hum of the wild is my symphony Back to the basics where I’m truly free [Pre-Chorus] Back to the basics where it all began No struggle or strife just the dirt on my hands Stripped of the chaos no need to pretend Looking for the life of a free willed man [Chorus] I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Where nothing is easy But everything's bliss Where peace of mind and freedom roam A place where I am never alone I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Don't leave me alone You need to see this Where we get our happiness from the land and the air A place where we can't possibly feel despair [Instrumental] [Bridge] I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Nobody can stop me feeling like this We're going back (back) Back to the basics Who wouldn't want to live like this I'm going back (back) Back to the basics Where everybody lives life in bliss We're going back (back) Back to the basics Don't you want it to stay like this [Instrumental] [Outro] We're going back (back) Back to the basics No it isn't easy But I like it like this After all that's what it's all about So don't you dare have any doubt We're going back (back) Back to the basics No you're never alone Not when we're like this I'm here for you and you for me And honestly I'm as happy as I could be [Instrumental] [End]
