[Verse 1] Woke up with a gray cloud Sitting on my head I shook it off at the doorway Put a smile on instead Ice cold Dr. Pepper in a tumbler Sun on the floor I chose the kind little answer Then I wanted more [Pre-Chorus] Maybe the day starts there One soft step at a time If I give a little grace Everything feels lighter inside [Chorus] I choose joy, I choose joy (choose joy, choose joy) Hands open, heart on fire I choose joy, I choose joy I pass it on Like a little bit of sunshine [Verse 2] You came in worn and hurried With trouble in your eyes I gave you my extra patience And a warm surprise One kind word, one true look Can turn the tide Feels like a door swung open When we let the good inside [Pre-Chorus] Maybe the day starts there One soft step at a time If I give a little grace Everything feels lighter inside [Chorus] I choose joy, I choose joy (choose joy, choose joy) Hands open, heart on fire I choose joy, I choose joy I pass it on Like a little bit of sunshine [Bridge] If the world gets heavy I can still be sweet If the floor gets shaky I can keep my feet One laugh, one lift One tender yes That’s how the hurting Turns to blessing [Final Chorus] I choose joy, I choose joy (choose joy, choose joy) Hands open, heart on fire I choose joy, I choose joy I pass it on Like a little bit of sunshine I choose joy, I choose joy (choose joy, choose joy) Here it comes again I choose joy, I choose joy And kindness wins Every time I let it in
