Pray In That Chevrolet

[Intro] With those strings to you I pray In the back of that Chevrolet [Verse 1] Tailgate down on top of that hill Waiting for the sun to fade away Guitar in hand and feeling the still Of the night roll on from the day (ohhh) [Pre-Chorus] And with those strings to you I pray In the back of that Chevrolet [Chorus] The whippoorwill sings in the dark The lightning bugs provide the light Nature's melodies inspire the spark I'm smoking to the sound, and it's all right I'd say someone on high has left his mark [Verse 2] Lying back in that rusty pickup bed Gazing at the stars, I can survey To here six strings and I have been led Smoke rings from me drift into the grey (ohhh) [Pre-Chorus] And with those strings to you I pray In the back of that Chevrolet [Chorus] The whippoorwill sings in the dark The lightning bugs provide the light Nature's melodies inspire the spark I'm smoking to the sound, and it's all right I'd say someone on high has left his mark [Interlude - acoustic guitar melody] [Pre-Chorus] And with those strings to you I pray In the back of that Chevrolet [Chorus] The whippoorwill sings in the dark The lightning bugs provide the light Nature's melodies inspire the spark I'm smoking to the sound, and it's all right I'd say someone on high has left his mark [Outro] And with those strings to you I pray In the back of that Chevrolet
