A Message from Michelle - New Wave Version

We know she served with honor We know she served with grace We know she’s the opposite Of our national disgrace We understand her cynicism at what politics entails but we also see Democracy careening off the rails We’re living in the danger We see violence on our streets Armed and masked assailants Like Klansmen wearing sheets We’re waiting for a warrior To help us fight against this hell A light inside the tunnel A message from Michelle We’re appalled at what he’s normalized the hatred he’s unfurled Embarrassed by the crassness that he vomits on the world We truly feel abandoned Like our voices are not heard as the beatings and harassment strip us from our words We’re living in the danger We see violence on our streets Armed and masked assailants Like Klansmen wearing sheets We’re waiting for a warrior To help us fight against this hell A light inside the tunnel A message from Michelle There’s a cancer in the U S A malfeasance run amuck There’re cowards in our congress That have our country stuck We know she served with honor We know she served with grace We know she’s not the cause Of our national disgrace We’re living in the danger We see violence on our streets Armed and masked assailants Like Klansmen wearing sheets We’re waiting for a warrior To help us fight against this hell A light inside the tunnel A message from Michelle
