[Verse 1] Static on the screen Red bar running “breaking” Outside Dogs all stare the air Like they hear something shaking Neighbors on the stair Filming empty clouds Every window People freeze Street goes suddenly loud [Chorus] Distant sounds of trumpets in the sky Everywhere at once Nobody knows why Radios are screaming “stay inside” But the trumpets in the sky Trumpets in the sky (woah) Are cutting through the world we try to hide [Verse 2] Call your mother up She says “it’s on every station” Someone crying in the back Talking end of creation Car alarms reply Sirens sing along Every language Every town Same unfinished song [Chorus] Distant sounds of trumpets in the sky Everywhere at once Nobody knows why Radios are screaming “stay inside” But the trumpets in the sky Trumpets in the sky (hey, hey) Are cutting through the world we try to hide [Bridge] Heads tilt upward Feet stay frozen Every headline Already chosen If this is omen If this is lie Why do I feel So alive inside? [Chorus] Distant sounds of trumpets in the sky Everywhere at once Nobody knows why Newsroom faces flicker Falsify But the trumpets in the sky Trumpets in the sky (ohhh) Are tearing all our little truths apart tonight
