Crown Off-Center
[INTRO] Everybody wants the crown. Nobody wants the weight. That's funny. Move over. WHIIIIITESIIIIIDE! [HOOK] Crown off-center, king look nervous, Whole lotta jewelry, ain't nobody heard the verses, Talk like royalty, rap like a service, I don't want your throne— I want to see if you deserve it. Crown off-center, straighten that shit, You been calling yourself great with a mediocre script, I don't need to take your spot, I can build my own seat— Then leave the whole kingdom wondering who they came to see. [VERSE 1] You got a crown from a website? Congratulations. I got a notebook full of unpaid demonstrations. You call yourself king every third sentence, but the bars need directions and the flow needs repentance. I'm not impressed by a title. I'm impressed by execution. A rapper's reputation should survive cross-examination. Put the beat on. Let's investigate. Your first eight sounded decent. Your next eight sealed your fate. That's not hate. That's evaluation. I can hear when a rapper's hiding behind production. Turn the drums down. Take away the bass. Now let's see if your vocabulary still occupies space. Silence is cruel. It exposes the fraud. A weak pen needs the beat like a crutch needs a leg. Mine just needs a microphone and somewhere to stand. I can walk into a cipher with nothing but a notebook and leave with everybody asking who the fuck I am. That's presence. Not volume. Not followers. Not chains. Not some rented car parked outside the venue for the picture frame. The crown doesn't make you royalty. The writing does. And if your best line needs a caption explaining why it's hard— It wasn't. [VERSE 2] I'm petty with precision. That's a dangerous combination. I can find one weak syllable and build an entire investigation. You brag about your toughness? Cool. I respect fighters. But don't confuse being loud with being able to handle pressure. I've been in situations where the mouth had to shut and the hands had to work. I've learned that composure is worth more than the toughest shirt. So when the battle gets tense, I don't need to perform. I get quieter. That's when you should probably pay attention. Same thing with the microphone. While you screaming “I'm the greatest,” I'm counting your mistakes. While you flexing for the crowd, I'm studying the space between your takes. Then I come back with a verse that makes your confidence shake. Not because I threatened you. Because I demonstrated the difference. That's the cleanest kind of disrespect. A technical one. I don't need your name. I don't need your crew. I don't need to point fingers. If the verse applies— You know who. [BRIDGE] Who's the king? Don't tell me. Rap. Let the record answer. [VERSE 3] Now the beat drops— and I switch to another gear. Every internal rhyme packed tight enough to make the consonants disappear. Multis stacked on multis, then I bend the cadence around 'em, make the snare chase the syllables instead of me chasing the drum. That's control. That's the difference. You can memorize a style. You can't memorize instincts. You can buy the clothes. You can't buy the fingerprints. You can wear the crown. You can't buy the kingdom. And if your whole identity depends on everybody believing you're the toughest, richest, coldest, hardest— You're already exhausted. I don't need to convince anybody. I walk in. I rap. I leave. If the room remembers the bars? Mission accomplished. If somebody talks shit afterward? Even better. Free promotion. I ain't fragile. Say whatever you want. Just make sure your pen can survive the answer. Because I don't chase beef. I chase better verses. And sometimes those two things happen to occupy the same address. That's when the crown tilts. That's when the throne squeaks. That's when somebody realizes the guy they thought was background noise was actually listening to every beat. WHIIIIITESIIIIIDE! [FINAL HOOK] Crown off-center, king look nervous, Whole lotta jewelry, ain't nobody heard the verses, Talk like royalty, rap like a service, I don't want your throne— I want to see if you deserve it. Crown off-center, straighten that shit, You been calling yourself great with a mediocre script, I don't need to take your spot, I can build my own seat— Then leave the whole kingdom wondering who they came to see. [OUTRO] Keep the crown. Fix the verse. WHIIIIITESIIIIIDE! Scratch. Next king up.
