Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh oh oh A city by the sea I was lonely, sky shone brightly I took the Stuart Highway I’ve been driving night and day The drag of the humidity Life’s teaching me humility My destination’s close at hand Following the deep veins of the land But it will take a while Yes it might take some time I learnt no big changes happen overnight I’m still stuck in my old routine Yes I’m caught somewhere in between The ghosts of the past I tried to put to flight Still it’s my fight It’s my fight Cause I’ve been down (I’ve been down) Oh so down (oh so down) Yeah I’ve been down (eh eh) Got a face like thunder I’ve been down (oh oho) Only down (down down) I have been down (eh eh eh) In a place there Down Under Am I the talk of the town? You know I’m feeling down Pull me up before I drown Cause I’m down (down down) Down Down Under (Been so down down down down down) I left the cities behind Felt the pulse or something of that kind Made my way to the red center Like a new gate I could enter Dingoes, bull dust and red tracks Four-wheel-drives and hungry jacks Need no forecasts of the weather Some part of me will always stay In the Never-Never (Never never) (Never never) (Never never) It will take a little while Yes it will surely take some time To forget the letting go Of my lost Dreamtime I can’t shake off who I was Still not sure of who I am But soon enough I’ll be writing My own Songline I’ve been down (I’ve been down) Oh so down (oh so down) Yeah I’ve been down (eh eh) Got a face like thunder I’ve been down (oh oho) Only down (down down) I have been down (eh eh eh) In a place there Down Under Am I the talk of the town? You know I’m feeling down Pull me up before I drown Cause I’m down (down down) Down Down Under Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Feeling high and low (High and low) And now Cairns (I miss you) Brisbane (I miss you) Melbourne (I miss you) And Canberra too Sydney (I miss you) Adelaide (I miss you) Uluru (I miss you) Alice I miss you too Some day out of the blue I will be back for you I was down I was down (down down) I was down I was down (down down) I was down (so down) (oh oh oh) I was down (I was down) Oh so down (Oh so down) Yeah I was down (eh eh) It struck me like thunder I was down (oh oho) Only down (down down) I was down (eh eh eh) In a place there Down Under I was lost but I found So far but I came around You pulled me up before I drowned When I was down (down down) Down Down Under Once I was Down Under Mmmm Down Under Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh Way-ya way-ay-oh oh oh
