Before... I learned the Name... I learned... the pronoun... He.. His... Him.... One small word... painted a picture... before I ever opened the page. I never questioned it. Neither did anyone around me. We spoke... and a face appeared. A man. A ruler. Someone... somewhere else. Then I stopped... and read again. It said... God is Spirit. Not flesh. Not male. Not female. Spirit. Can Spirit... be confined... to a pronoun? Or does language... reach its limit... where Mystery begins? Perhaps... "He"... was never meant... to describe... what God is. Perhaps... it was simply... the closest language... could come. We point... at the ocean... and say... "it." Yet no word... contains... the sea. We point... toward the Infinite... and say... "He." Yet no syllable... can hold... the Source. The finger... is useful. Until... we mistake... the finger... for the moon. The word... is useful. Until... we mistake... the word... for Reality. Perhaps... God has never been... a person. Perhaps... every person... has been... living... within God. When language... becomes quiet... Presence... remains. No label. No title. No image. No pronoun. Only... I AM. Beyond... every word... You were always... here.
