Backseat Mixtape

[Verse 1] I learned the world on a tube TV Blue glow on my face at six fifteen Cereal dust on the carpet floor Saturday cartoons, then we wanted more Pogs in my pocket, knees all torn Mom said, "Wait right there," and I was gone Bike chain greasy, summer air I had no clue, but I had no care [Pre-Chorus] And every little thing felt huge A screen door slam, a brand-new shoe We were broke, but we were free Running wild on a dead-end street [Chorus] Back in the nineties Back in the nineties We were loud, we were young, we were hungry Back in the nineties Back in the nineties Tape it up, press play, keep it coming [Verse 2] Mall lights flickered on a Friday night Cheap cologne and a borrowed line Payphone coins in a denim fold Telling my crush what I didn't know Mixtape loves with the worst timing One slow song and the whole room shining Game Boy glow in the backseat dark Dad missed the turn, but I kept the spark [Pre-Chorus] And every goodbye felt like a movie Every little win felt like proof We were wild, we were free Running hard on a memory loop [Chorus] Back in the nineties Back in the nineties We were loud, we were young, we were hungry Back in the nineties Back in the nineties Tape it up, press play, keep it coming [Bridge] Now the pictures fit in my hand But I still hear that summer band The first big dreams in a secondhand car Felt like forever, then they got far [Chorus] Back in the nineties Back in the nineties We were loud, we were young, we were hungry Back in the nineties Back in the nineties Tape it up, press play, keep it coming [Outro] Back in the nineties (Back in the nineties) Back in the nineties (keep it coming)
