The Manor That Dreams
The rain struck down like heaven’s wrath, the sky split wide, the earth held breath. Fog beneath, and rage above, and in the distance waits a silent death. In cathedrals made of trees so tall, in helm-like hills - a Wagner’s tone. I stand alone where storms have bled, in a manor lost, and turned to stone. Behind the stained and broken glass, a chill escapes from breathless halls. The sun lies shattered in the dust, time cracked open = frozen, stalled. I feed the hearth - the flame won’t rise, only echoes play their game. Then sudden light - a blaze, a flood, and from the mist… she comes, unnamed. Ancient doors groan wide and slow, and violins begin to cry. In her diamond veil of fog, she dances near, then passes by. The world spins in the ballroom lost, her fiery hair - a crimson flame. With her I rise beyond the peaks, she holds a rose… and speaks no name. And after night, the day returns, as if no storm had ever roared. Birds beat their wings against my dream, shattered panes - a world restored. Once more the manor stands alone, its dreams dissolved in cold gray light. Yet on the stained glass, faint but clear her shadow clings to morning’s sight. A wilted rose within my hand, still scents the ghost of what had been. I must go forth, plunge into life, though something aches… from deep within. Again the road, again the gale, again the mist, again the flame. But still she waits = I know, I feel in every manor that dares to dream… and remain.
