The heavens declare the glory of God, The skies proclaim his works abroad. Day after day they pour out speech, Night after night, their knowledge they teach. Without a word or sound or voice, Their message still makes earth rejoice. Their voice goes out through all the lands, Their words extend to far-off strands. In the heavens, he pitched a tent for the sun, Like a bridegroom, its race is begun. It rises at one end of the sky, And nothing is hidden from its eye. The law of the Lord is perfect and sure, Reviving the soul, making hearts pure. The statutes of God are trustworthy and right, Giving the simple wisdom and light. The precepts of God are righteous and clear, Bringing joy to the heart, dispelling fear. The commands of the Lord are radiant and true, Giving light to the eyes, making all things new. The fear of the Lord is pure, it will stand, Enduring forever, the works of his hand. The decrees of God are firm, never old, More precious than honey, sweeter than gold. By them your servant is warned with care; In keeping them, there’s reward to spare. But who can discern his own hidden wrongs? Forgive my faults, where my guilt belongs. Keep your servant from sins of pride, Let them not rule, let them not abide. Then I will be blameless and free, Innocent of great iniquity. May the words of my mouth and thoughts of my heart, Be pleasing to you, O Lord, from the start. My Rock and Redeemer, forever you’ll be, For all of my hope is resting in thee.
