The Falls Guys (The Grand Tour S02E02)

[Intro] (Energetic acoustic guitar strumming, a punchy rock drum beat kicks in, accompanied by a soaring electric guitar riff) [Verse 1] The permanent tent in the Cotswolds is warm and dry tonight But on the big studio screen, the city neon is bright New York, New York is the starting line for a brand new race To see which mode of transport can maintain the fastest pace [Verse 2] Jeremy Clarkson smiles, he’s got a blue metallic key To the rarest road-legal racing car you'll ever see The brand new Ford GT, a carbon monster made for track He’s driving it on public roads and never looking back [Verse 3] But James and Richard Hammond have a different path to clear And looking at the Hamster's leg, it’s filled with heavy fear With crutches and a plaster cast from his Swiss alpine fall He has to take the public trains, not driving cars at all [Verse 4] The race begins at dawn, the Ford GT starts to roar Jeremy is flying out, looking for the highway door Through the Holland Tunnel, heading for the open space With six hundred horsepower setting up a brutal pace [Verse 5] Meanwhile at Penn Station, James is running down the floor Dragging a complaining Hammond through the heavy terminal door The commuter train is crowded, the seats are very small Richard is in agony, his crutches hit the wall [Verse 6] Jeremy is on the highway, the V6 engine screams so high But the carbon racing seats are making the presenter cry His back is getting stiff, his old knees start to ache The most uncomfortable road-trip car that Ford could ever make [Verse 7] The boys arrive at JFK to catch a yellow plane But Hammond at the security check is causing heavy pain The metal pins inside his leg make all the alarms go bright The guards are looking suspicious, slowing down their flight [Verse 8] Jeremy looks at his navigation, the miles are clicking by Across the state of New York, beneath the cloudy sky He needs to make a pitstop for some bensin and a snack Hoping that the public transport isn't on his track [Verse 9] James and Richard board the plane, the propeller starts to spin They think they have the victory, they flash a cheeky grin But a heavy fog is rolling in across the northern land The flight is grounded instantly upon the tarmac sand [Verse 10] They have to change the strategy, they hire a small sedan James May is behind the wheel, driving as fast as he can But Captain Slow is cautious, he stays within the line While Hammond in the passenger seat says they are running out of time [Verse 11] Jeremy is getting closer, the Niagara sign is near The suspension is so brutal that his vision isn't clear Every bump upon the asphalt shakes his ancient British bones As the Ford GT is rattling past the historic boundary stones [Verse 12] The sun is going down now, the race is getting tight The headlights of the supercar are cutting through the night James is pushing the rental car, taking every single turn While Richard watches the navigation, making his ears burn [Verse 13] Who will reach the finish line beside the water grand? Where the massive roaring waterfall is shaking up the land Jeremy arrives first, he steps out with a groan Standing by the misty falls, completely all alone [Verse 14] He wins the epic highway race, the Ford GT was fast But his body is so broken that the victory cannot last James and Hammond walk up late, with a bitter angry stare Tired from the trains and planes and the delays in the air [Verse 15] Back inside the Cotswolds tent, the crowd is cheering loud At the beautiful American race that made the network proud They debate the comfort of the Ford against the public train Concluding that a supercar is always worth the pain [Verse 16] Kevin Josephson is next, a celebrity on cue He enters the race track to see what he can do The new section is running, Celebrity Face-Off is its name Where famous stars are battling for the leaderboard fame [Verse 17] The fifteenth song is ending, the Niagara race is done From the streets of Manhattan to the setting northern sun The Grand Tour truck is waiting, the engines roar out loud On to the next adventure, keeping petrolheads so proud [Outro] (Driving road-trip guitar solo, punchy brass accents blaring, energetic drum crescendo, fading out with the roaring sound of a waterfall)
