The Watermelon Sky
Raining pips, not cats and dogs, raining seeds from way up high— Not in mists nor fogs or bogs, But from a watermelon in the sky! “Oh my, oh my! Just look at that!” I think I might just eat my hat! Every seed that touched the ground Sprouted vines that swirled around. I watched in awe at what I saw— I never knew they grew like this! Raining seeds from way up high, not in snow and not in ice— But in a juicy rainy bliss, A splashy, fruity paradise! Juice that trickled down the hills In waterfalls and overspills. Ruby streams ran far and wide— Kids slurped with straws in countryside! And as the vines climbed to the moon, we danced beneath the pink monsoon. Lyrics by Lesley Scoble, June 2025
