The God I Was Calling

V5.5

SUNO STYLE Experimental spiritual world-soul with hypnotic syncopated percussion, organic polyrhythms and cinematic atmosphere. NOT mainstream pop, NOT radio pop, NOT inspirational contemporary pop, NOT a conventional verse-chorus anthem. Percussion-forward arrangement: deep frame drums, hand drums, clay-pot percussion, low floor toms, shakers, wood blocks, finger snaps, handclaps, subtle metallic percussion and occasional huge resonant drum strikes. Interlocking syncopated rhythms with unexpected rests and accents. The groove should feel earthy, ancient and slightly trance-inducing while remaining sophisticated and modern. Warm, deep bass moving independently around the percussion. Sparse piano used only for emphasis. Low cello drones, bowed textures, atmospheric strings, breath sounds and unusual organic textures. Occasional wordless vocal layers used almost like another percussion instrument. Mature female lead vocal: warm, textured, intimate, soulful and commanding without belting. Rhythmic phrasing that sometimes lands between the beats. Verses should feel almost conversational or incantatory. Layered female harmonies gradually emerge as the realization expands. Avoid predictable four-chord progressions. Avoid glossy synth-pop production. Avoid obvious pop drops and giant commercial choruses. Allow silence, tension, asymmetry and rhythmic surprise. Mid-tempo, approximately 92–100 BPM. Strong syncopation. Sensual but not sexual. Mystical without sounding like church music. Ancient and futuristic simultaneously. The emotional movement is: seeking → questioning → recognition → unity → awe. TITLE: THE GOD I WAS CALLING [Intro — breath, low drone, scattered hand percussion] I called Your name… and waited. Called Your name… and waited. [low drum] As though You lived somewhere else. [Verse 1 — syncopated groove begins] I sent my prayers up through the ceiling, past the roof, past the clouds, past everything I called myself— trying to reach You. And all the while… these lungs were breathing. This heart was beating. These ears were listening. [Percussion break] Who— was listening? [Refrain — hypnotic, not a pop chorus] If God is here… who am I calling? If God is here… who doesn’t hear? I searched for You outside of me— while You were listening from in here. [Instrumental — hand drums interlock, bass enters] [Verse 2] Then I looked across the room and decided who was right, who was wrong, who was worthy, who had failed. [beat drops out] And something in me asked— Who are you judging? [deep drum strike] The clothes? The history? The frightened little stories wrapped around a living soul? Or the same strange Light looking back at itself through another pair of eyes? [Rhythmic Refrain] If God is there… what am I judging? If God is there… who have I condemned? Maybe every finger I point outward draws a circle back again. [Percussion intensifies — layered hand drums, claps and breath] [Bridge — spoken/sung over polyrhythm] God in the saint. God in the stranger. God in the one I cannot understand. God in the mirror. God in the question. God in the trembling of my own two hands. God when I’m certain. God when I’m frightened. God underneath every name I defend. God in the beginning. God in the ending. God… looking at God… again. [Instrumental break — percussion takes over completely] [Call and Response — layered female voices] LEAD: Where are You? VOICES: Here. LEAD: Do You hear me? VOICES: Here. LEAD: Where have You been? VOICES: Here. LEAD: And where are You in them? [Silence] VOICES: Here. [Final Movement — groove becomes expansive, not pop] Then perhaps there was never a distance. Perhaps prayer was never a message sent from here to there. Perhaps prayer is the Infinite experiencing itself as longing. Perhaps love is the moment we recognize it. [Percussion builds] And perhaps judgment is simply forgetting. [All instruments stop] Forgetting… Who is looking. [Final Refrain — low, powerful, layered] The God I was calling was calling through me. The God I was seeking was seeking through me. The one I was judging… the one judging me… different windows, different stories, same mystery. [Rhythmic vocal layers] Here. Here. Here. Here. [Drums become increasingly syncopated] Not above. Not beyond. Not somewhere waiting. Here. In me. In you. In this. [Outro — percussion gradually strips away] If God is within me… God hears me. If God is within you… let me remember who I’m looking at. [one final low drum strike] Here.
