BAAAAAAAA.....AMMMIIINNNNAAAA This is the world as it is, A trembling ship beneath the storm, Everybody says they're steering, But nobody knows who's holding on. The compass spins in circles, The horizon disappears, And every hand upon the wheel Is hiding something underneath the fear. There's a glove behind the curtain, A hand we never see, Rocking every little boat That claims that it is free. It pulls the rope, it moves the pieces, It whispers what to say, And while the passengers are fighting, It quietly changes where we sail. **[Chorus]** **This is not the world I wanted, This is not the world I see When I close my eyes and wonder What the world was meant to be. Somewhere underneath the trembling, Somewhere underneath the lies, There is still a truth worth guarding For the ones who stay awake at night.** **[Verse 2 — The False Altar]** They built a church upon the ashes, Then they painted it with gold. They filled the sanctuary with voices But forgot the truth they were told. They speak the name of Jesus But their hearts have wandered far, They've traded out the living Savior For an image of what they are. They worship fear and call it holiness, They worship power and call it grace, They worship everything that flatters them And still put Christ upon the face. But a counterfeit can wear a crown, And a false god can speak your name; The question isn't what the lips confess— **It's who is sitting on the throne.** **[Chorus]** **This is not the world I wanted, This is not the world I see. The church has learned to praise the darkness While pretending it is free. But somewhere underneath the trembling, Somewhere underneath disguise, There are still a few who watch and pray, Who refuse to close their eyes.** **[Verse 3 — Nowhere]** I searched for somewhere I could stand, But every shore began to move. I searched for somewhere I could belong, But every answer came unproved. I looked for certainty in people, I looked for order in the crowd, But the louder that they shouted, The less I could hear God through the sound. So I walked into the nowhere, Where the maps had all gone blank, And I discovered something strange At the edge of what I thought I knew: Sometimes you find the truth When there's nowhere left to run. **[Bridge — The Watchmen]** So keep your lamps burning. Keep your eyes open. Test every spirit. Question every throne. For not every voice that says "Lord" Has learned to follow Him. Not every church that bears His name Has kept the faith within. The deceiver doesn't always Come wearing something strange. Sometimes he walks into the sanctuary And rearranges what you praise. **[Breakdown]** He changes truth into a slogan. He changes worship into performance. He changes obedience into allegiance. He changes Christ into an image that serves the kingdom of men. And the sleeping call it peace. **[Final Chorus — Rising]** **But the vigilant will see Him. The faithful will know His face. Not the Christ that men have fashioned, But the Christ who offers grace. Not the god of manipulation, Not the god that feeds on fear, But the Lamb who conquered death And calls His people near.** **Let the false altar crumble. Let the counterfeit be known. Let every hidden hand be exposed. Let every idol lose its throne. Though the whole world rocks and trembles, Though the waters rise and fall, The One who spoke creation Still remains Lord over all.** **[Outro — Quiet]** The glove may rock the boat. The storm may fill the sky. The false church may deceive itself. The kingdoms may rise and die. But I will keep my lamp burning. I will keep my eyes awake. I will not mistake the counterfeit For the Christ I came to seek. And when the trembling finally stops, When every false throne falls, I'll know the voice that called me— **because the true Christ never needed deception to be Lord at all.**
